Bakar Releases Limited Edition CD Designed by Virgil

For his debut album 'Nobody's Home'

Fresh off the release of his debut album Nobody’s Home, North London artist Bakar shared a special announcement on social media this week. A limited-edition CD version of his debut, designed by the one and only Virgil Abloh, limited to just 500 copies.

All proceeds from the sales will benefit Virgil’s “POST-MODERN” Scholarship Fund. The foundation supports equity and inclusion for Black, African-American, and African descent students in the fashion industry. Bakar and Abloh were connected for years, with Bakar serving as a model in Abloh’s debut and final Louis Vuitton shows. To commemorate his dear friend and collaborator, Bakar releases the CD to reflect on the accomplishments to come from the next generation of underrepresented creatives. Bakar spoke on Abloh’s undying support and influence.

“A lot of the time we don’t output, there’s a fear there of not producing perfection. But that’s not what it’s about really. I think that’s what Virgil showed. That there’s so much more beauty in the imperfection along the way. And to show those imperfections. And people [are] really actually warm to those imperfections.”

Abloh was no rookie when it comes to album covers. He’s famously designed the covers for Watch the Throne, Yeezus, Long.Live.ASAP, Luv is Rage 2, and Pray for Paris.

The limited-edition CD will release on April 8th and is available for preorder now. In the meantime, listen to Nobody’s Home on Apple Music and Spotify.
