‘Tiger King 2’ Trailer Throws Us Right Back Into the Chaos

The sequel to Netflix's wildly successful docuseries looks to be even more outrageous than its predecessor.

The most popular show from the onset of the pandemic is back for another round.  That’s right, pop-culture phenomenon ‘Tiger King’ is returning for a second season.  Netflix’s true crime docuseries follows the life of former Oklahoma zookeeper and convicted felon Joe Exotic.

The first trailer cheerfully embraces the mayhem and madness that made ‘Tiger King’ such a huge hit.  For those of you who thought the story was over, we’ve only scratched the surface.  Netflix described the second season as follows:

“With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his zoo, newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America’s most notorious big cat owners.”

Some of the first season’s more controversial side characters will be the main focus this time around.  With Exotic serving his 22-year federal prison sentence, the trailer focuses on Jeff Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson.  This ‘Bad Boys Club’ of characters profited greatly off the success of the first season, much to the chagrin of Exotic.  “Everybody from the zoo is out there making money and I’m paying the price,” says Exotic from behind bars.

34.3 million people watched ‘Tiger King’ in its first ten days on Netflix.  The show’s popularity led to a boom in business as super-fans frequented the zoos depicted in the show.  Unsurprisingly, there was a movement to ‘Free Joe Exotic’ via presidential pardon in the final days of the Trump administration.  Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, is serving time for violating federal wildlife laws and murder-for-hire.

Meanwhile, Exotic’s notorious rival Carole Baskin will not be featured in the second season.  Baskin expressed dismay with how she was portrayed in the first season, particularly regarding her role in her ex-husband Don’s disappearance.  Despite Baskin’s lack of involvement, the trailer suggests the topic of Don’s disappearance will be revisited in the sequel.

‘Tiger King 2’ hits Netflix with 5 new episodes on November 17th.  Additionally, you can watch the full trailer in the player above.  Let us know your expectations for ‘Tiger King 2’ in the comments section below!  Lastly, for more entertainment news from WavyPack, A ‘That 70’s Show’ Spinoff Series is Coming to Netflix.
