In celebration of Gucci’s 100th anniversary, the iconic Italian brand has released the Centennial Collection. The collection honors the unmistakable heritage and widespread influence of the luxury brand. Further, Gucci illustrates the deep relationship between clothing, identity, and music.
Founded in Florence, Italy in 1921, the luxury fashion house has become a timeless pop culture staple. Foremost, clever fashion references in the collection are connected to the number 22,705. The number represents the number of songs containing the word “Gucci” in the lyrics over the past 100 years. Pieces from the collection are embellished with the Gucci 100 logo as well as lyrics from three iconic songs – “The R” by Eric B. & Rakim, “F*ck Me Pumps” by Amy Winehouse, and “You Got Good Taste” by The Cramps. The campaign pays homage to influential music genres including jazz, psychedelic, afrobeat, disco, hip-hop and also Japanese punk rock.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele delivered a statement on the collection.
“The centennial, for me, represents an opportunity to bear witness to Gucci’s eternal vitality that year after year, is reborn, it renews itself, reestablishing an unusual relationship with contemporaneity as a boy, forever young, observing the world with a powerful vision. I recognize the manifestation of its youth in its having intercepted and traversed, for one hundred years now, popular culture in all its forms. Above all, in music: the only medium, aside from fashion, more reactive to the times that mutate and mark the new, the today, the now.”
Primarily, the Gucci Centennial Collection features suits, hoodies, pleated skirts, jumpsuits, t-shirts, bags, and more. Highlights from the collection include monogrammed outerwear, tote bags and suitcases, as well as a wide range of footwear. Several accessories also feature new iterations of classic signatures, including belts, necklaces, and slides. With this collection, Gucci connects the dots between fashion and self-expression with music and individual identity. Gucci effectively captures evolution through the styles, movements, and harmonies, conveying a fundamental lust for life.
Additionally, Gucci is holding a global tour as part of the anniversary celebration. Pop-ups will appear in New York, Miami, Southern California, and Vancouver. There are also events inside Gucci stores in Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Toronto, and Beverly Hills.
