In 2019, the head of the German automotive giant, Ola Källenius announced a commitment for a zero-emissions version of the G-Class line. We’re now seeing these promises come to fruition as parent Daimler AG files paperwork for the names “EQG580” and “EQG560”.

A hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV will release for the first time in winter of 2022. Followed by fully electric models in 2024 under the Mercedes-EQ brand. The EQG-Wagons are expected to be revealed as concept cars at the IAA Mobility 2021 motor show in Munich this September. With hybrid models expected to go on sale with an estimated starting price slightly above the $132,800 USD G550, while the EQ560 and EQG580 may stay closer to the range of $157,500 USD like the AMG G63.
