Takashi Murakami and Hublot Team Up to Create the Classic Fusion All Black

Featuring black diamond-set petals that spin around the dial.

Hublot continues to work with a wide range of contemporary artists. To announce its latest collaboration, CEO Ricardo Guadalupe appeared as a holographic projection from Switzerland to reveal the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black.

Takashi Murakami used his signature Smiling Flower artwork on the dial of an All Black Classic Fusion, which features a fixed central ‘face’ mounted on top of the watch’s sapphire crystal. With 12 petals set on a ball bearing-mounted carousel forming a spinning dial. The watch also features 563 brilliantly cut black diamonds.

At the launch, Murakami discussed that the thing he most enjoyed when he visited Hublot’s manufacture in Nyon, Switzerland, was the wine at lunch (as it showcased the brand’s attention to detail) and that his friendship with Japanese watchmaker Hajime Asaoka inspired his interest in watches which led to a collaboration between Murakami and Hublot.

The watch features Hublot’s automatic UNICO movement with glorious 72-hour power reserve. They will only make 200 of the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black, and they are available now. One will set you back a cool $27,300. If you’re interested, head over to Hublot’s website. You can take a detailed look at the watch in the gallery above. Lastly, for more fashion news,
