Zenith Takes Things Back to the 1970’s With Chronomaster Revival

The Iconic watch that survived "Operation Sky".

Being watch fans, the purchase of the Blackout iteration was a stellar purchase. Amazing craftsmanship and a signature of American culture. Well, Swiss luxury watchmaker Zenith returns with another Chronomaster Revival. They’re taking a trip down memory lane, revisiting the classic El Primero variations of the 1970s: the A385.

If it’s not broken, don’t break it. They keep all the design sensibilities that cemented the watch as a classic timepiece. Starting with the tonneau-shaped steel chronograph which features a smoky brown hue on this iteration, you’ll also find three pristine white sundials and a red hit found on the chronograph second hand. A welcomed touch of contrast to an otherwise modest color palette. The watch first debuted in 1969 when Zenith brought the world the first automatic high-frequency chronograph. They later made headlines in 1970 when it took part in “Operation Sky,” where they strapped the watch to the landing gear of an Air France Boeing 707. The flight was from Paris to New York, and the timepiece survived all the harsh weather conditions of the trip.

You can purchase the Zenith Chronomaster Revival at boutiques globally and on their website, for a welcomed price of $7,900 USD for the leather-strapped version. We don’t have the pricing on the bracelet option. You’ll have to inquire about when you reach out. You can take a detailed look at the gallery above.
