Union Unveils Official Detailed Images of the Union x Air Jordan 4

Union flipped the switch, with the reveal of the customizable, once stitched down, tongue.

We received the announcement of the Union Air Jordan 4 collaboration months ago. With the speculation of how the shoe would look came hype because of the success of the Union x Air Jordan 1 High OG collab that dropped in 2018. Today we receive a detailed look at the upcoming sneaker scheduled for a release later this month.

With all successful collaborations, nothing matters more than the successor and Union flipped the switch and gave us two styles we weren’t expecting. Making for a unique and starkly contrasted sneaker with premium materials. Arriving in “Guava Ice” and “Off Noir,” Union’s Air Jordan 4s received a lot of heat on social media when we received a first look in July because of their non-traditional low tongue. But after further inspection, you can actually remove the stiching holding the tongue down for a more classic look, as explained by Gibbs:

“Back in the day, I had always liked to wear my Air Jordan 4s with a short tongue, so I would fold them over themselves and tie them down. We decided to fold the tongue over and stitch it down with the same stitch pattern that we used on the Air Jordan 1s. The good news here is that the stitch can be easily removed to reveal a normal tongue size if that’s your preference. Another fun detail is that with the tongue folded over the original “AIR JORDAN” interior branding now becomes external.”

After fans saw that, instantly the perception of the shoe changed. The shoe features an abundance of materials stemming from different shades and meshes. The suede used is thick and high quality. Inspired by the same suede used on Birkenstock sandals. While the mesh used pays homage to classic ’80s style sneakers. The two color options “Guava Ice” and “Off Noir” both mix hues of white, red and blue, but alternate muted versions for a unique look. We also find translucent “wings” for a hit of conceptual style. This all sits atop a yellowed midsole to finish the look. The Air Jordan 4 Union LA, drops on August 15, on the select Nike Sportswear retails  and at a selection of retailers at a price of around $300.
