It’s been a while since I heard something that stopped me in my tracks. French-born, London-based artist Oklou has one of the best-auto-tuned voices I’ve ever heard. Crooning as an angelic android on the verge of enlightenment. Her tone is pitch imperfect. The corrections the Auto-Tune makes to her vocals are slight but noticeable which makes the song that much more enjoyable. What I enjoyed the most is the melody. The electric piano-led synth pad gives the song a light and airy sonic signature, while you find no percussion on this rendition, it’s not needed whatsoever.
Along with being a fantastic vocalist, Oklou is also an exceptional piano player. Effortlessly delivering a memorable performance, all while playing a complex melody. Backed by light supporting vocals and strings chords, the track is relaxing and transcendent. One of the best COLORS show performances I’ve seen in a while.
