Hern Dumas returns with new music. Coming fresh off his first release of this year, “Take Me Back” the New York emcee releases his debut EP ‘Canvas’. The project features three tracks including a stark, introspective Black Lives Matter poem. The standout cut on ‘Canvas’ is “RTD” which features fellow rapper Raw. The project features smooth jazz-infused production, paired with delayed guitars and classic hip-hop drums and cadences. Dumas raps casually and confidently about a love interest and the inevitable triumph over his competition.
“I wanna fight for you like Jordan in Game 5 with the flu/ do a n*gga in like Majin Buu if they ever disrespect you”.
He highlights dynamic baselines and guitar-laden instrumentation while transitioning effortlessly in and of the production lyrically. At first listen you understand the direction the Overlooked SOB frontrunner’s going for. So we’re excited to see where he’ll go from here, but ‘Canvas’ is easily his best project to date. You can listen to the EP on all major streaming services now. Lastly, for more indie music spotlights, For Peets Sake Delivers in “Ever Wrote” Visual.
