Nintendo Unveils The Next Generation With Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves

A massive open world adventure inspired by Southeast Asia is heading to the Switch 2 in 2027.

The legendary franchise is officially entering an exciting new era. To help celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the series the team hosted a special Pokémon Presents showcase for Pokémon Day. Fans tuning into the broadcast were treated to a thrilling surprise at the very end. The presentation closed with the highly anticipated first look at the tenth generation of titles officially named Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

These upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games take players to a breathtaking new region heavily inspired by Southeast Asia.The developers are building a massive open world layout filled with beautiful windswept islands and an expansive ocean to explore. The three minute trailer also revealed some fun new characters including two special Pikachus named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu.

The absolute highlight of the reveal was the introduction of the three new starter Pokémon. Trainers beginning their adventure in this new region will select their initial partner from three brand new companions. The choices include the Bean Chick named Browt, the Puppy named Pombon, and the Water Gecko named Gecqua. These initial partners have already taken social media by storm as fans eagerly debate who to pick for their team.
Both Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are officially scheduled to drop together sometime during 2027. Fans can expect plenty of updates and additional trailers leading up to the massive release.
