Bugatti has officially unveiled a new chapter in its long history of bespoke automotive craftsmanship with the launch of Programme Solitaire, an ultra-exclusive, one-of-one customization service. The French marque debuted the new program with its stunning first commission, a unique W16 powered coupé named Brouillard. This new initiative represents the pinnacle of personalization, going far beyond the brand’s existing Sur Mesure offerings.
The program is a modern revival of the in-house coach-building spirit championed by Jean Bugatti in the 1920s and ’30s. That historic move brought design and construction under one roof, leading to some of the most iconic and beautiful cars ever made, including the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic. Programme Solitaire aims to recapture that spirit, offering the brand’s most passionate collectors the opportunity to create an entirely custom vehicle.

The first creation, the Brouillard, is a masterpiece of this philosophy. The car is named after Ettore Bugatti’s favorite horse, and its design is deeply influenced by this equestrian inspiration. The exterior features stunning, sculpture-like bodywork with lines that evoke the power of equine musculature. The car was created for a dedicated Bugatti collector and channels the artistic legacy of the entire Bugatti family, from Carlo’s famous furniture to Rembrandt’s celebrated bronze sculptures, into a singular automotive expression.
Inside, the bespoke details are just as breathtaking. The Brouillard features a cathedral-like glass roof, unique tartan fabrics, and panels of green-tinted carbon fiber. The centerpiece of the cabin is the gear shifter, which contains a delicate, hand-crafted sculpture of Ettore’s horse embedded within, a constant tribute to the car’s namesake.
Bugatti has confirmed that the exclusivity of Programme Solitaire will be strictly maintained. The brand will build a maximum of only two Solitaire commissions per year. Each vehicle will be based on an existing Bugatti platform but will be completely reimagined with bespoke design and unparalleled craftsmanship, ensuring that every creation is a true one of one.
