Tame Impala is officially back, ending years of anticipation with a new single titled “End Of Summer.” The seven minute track is the first original, unaccompanied music from the Kevin Parker project since the release of The Slow Rush and its subsequent B-sides, marking the official start of a new creative era.

After weeks of social media teasers that saw Parker return to Instagram, the new song has arrived. In a post announcing the track, Parker wrote, “A new era begins. This is the first thing I want you guys to hear. I give you ‘End Of Summer.’” According to a press release, the sprawling song draws sonic inspiration from the acid house summer of 1989 and mid 90s free parties, ushering in a nostalgia soaked new sound for the beloved project.
The release is accompanied by a striking split screen music video directed by Julian Klincewicz, which adds a compelling visual layer to the song’s dusty, psychedelic atmosphere. The track follows several one off songs for movie soundtracks, but “End Of Summer” stands as the first proper taste of what’s to come from the next chapter of Tame Impala.
“End Of Summer” is now available to stream on all platforms.
