A significant follow-up to a highly sought-after release is on the horizon. The Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0”, carrying the SKU IB1482-100, is set for a worldwide launch on May 17th, 2025, priced at $200 USD. This release builds upon the legacy of the original, ultra-limited Air Jordan 3 “Seoul” from 2018.
The initial “Seoul” colorway was part of Jordan Brand’s celebration of the Air Jordan 3’s 30th Anniversary, coinciding with the 30th Anniversary of the 1988 Olympic Games held in Seoul. Designed by Dan Sunwoo, now GM of Nike’s Kobe Brand, it was notable for being the first Air Jordan Retro to outwardly feature a country flag. Its rarity and significance led to resale prices consistently exceeding $1,000. A limited women’s re-release followed in 2020.
The “Seoul 2.0” evolves this theme, incorporating cultural elements with updated design touches. It retains the signature South Korean flag on the left tongue and Nike Air branding on the heel, a detail often reserved for higher-tier products.
New features give the “2.0” its distinct character: a traditional fabric lining the ankle, an aged look with pre-yellowing on the midsole and upper edges, and a gray outsole. The iconic elephant print mudguard and heel counter have been updated from black-on-gray to two shades of gray. While officially listed as White/Sport Royal/Challenge Red/Black, the upper appears to have an off-white finish.
Perhaps the most meaningful additions are the Korean words embroidered behind the tongue: 꿈 (GGUEM) and 정 (JEONG). According to Sesinko, “Gguem” means “dream”, representing aspirations and the pursuit of goals. “Jeong” is described as a uniquely Korean concept, signifying a deep emotional connection, affection, and lasting warmth. These details infuse the sneaker with profound cultural meaning. The release also includes thematic packaging.
The “Seoul 2.0” was first glimpsed via leaked images in March, then received a high-profile unofficial debut when J-Hope of BTS was seen wearing them courtside at an LA Lakers game.
For those looking to cop, the global release is scheduled for May 17th, 2025, via Nike SNKRS and select global retailers. Early releases are planned: Sesinko in the U.S. will host an in-store activation on May 10th in NYC, while Kasina in South Korea will offer pairs exclusively to students on May 10th. Retailers like Sneaker Politics will host draws, and entering raffles is recommended.
With its blend of historical context, cultural homage, and thoughtful design updates, the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0” stands out as a significant release for 2025.
