Form Us With Love, a Swedish design company, just unveiled a new brand in collaboration with German manufacturer OKA. The initiative, called Unit Systems, strives to produce designs with practicality at their core, in order to make each item adaptable for a variety of places.
The two firms disclosed ideas for Unit Systems, as well as the initial designs slated to be presented, during the formal launch at this year’s Orgatec furniture expo. In brief, the elements are intended as a “modular system”. It will be directed towards architects, who are increasingly required to create places that are adaptable and changing.

The line features a minimal modular design – again, in a bid to make the pieces more universal. Each comes crafted with “minimal parts”, and will be manufactured in OKA’s new factory, which houses state-of-the-art production lines for crafting metal and upholstery. “OKA approached us with a carte blanche,” says Jonas Pettersson, CEO, and co-founder at Form Us With Love. “We were asked to create a brand for the future of commercial spaces. Through our exploration, we found architects were missing a ‘toolkit’ for furniture.”
The first system to debut under the new brand is simply titled “Unit 1”. A single form of connection utilized to connect elements in this collection, which means that any number of pieces inside the system may be adjusted and linked to create something genuinely unique. “The needs we have for our spaces are in flux,” adds John Löfgren, Creative Director and Co-founder at Form Us With Love. “Companies expand, contract, and transform with increasing frequency and so we believe that the future of furniture is made of parts.”

He continues: “aluminum and steel are our core materials; we will utilize the excellent automated production of OKA’s new plant while considering the long life cycle of each part. What extrusion was used for a shelf today, may become a sofa tomorrow.”
