Sony Turns Playstation Plus into Subscription Games Service

With three membership tiers and over 700 downloadable games.

Playstation Plus

After months of rumors, the big news out of Sony is finally official. In a move to rival Xbox Game Pass, Sony and Playstation are launching their new game subscription service in place of the current Playstation Plus.

Apple Announces New Self Service Repair Program

While it retains the Playstation Plus name, the new service will look a bit different. The program will combine the previous version of the subscription service with Playstation Now, offering three unique monthly membership tiers. Foremost, the Essentials tier ($10 USD) will give you access to two downloadable games, exclusive discounts, and online multiplayer access. Essentially, this low-level tier is the current Playstation Plus program. The Extra tier ($15 USD) includes all of the Essentials tier as well as access to a catalog of up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games. Finally, the Premium tier ($18 USD) includes all aforementioned benefits, as well as an additional library of 340 games. This includes titles from the original Playstation, PS2, PS3, and PSP, all of which can be streamed or downloaded. Additionally, the tier gives you access to time-limited game trials if you’re looking to try out new content.

New Playstation Plus services will be available starting this June. Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
