There are artists who capture your heart solely based on their creativity. During our initial listen, we could hear the passion behind Cory Br0wn. The Georgia native uses ambiance to his advantage. His latest single dubbed “Starry Knight” is what I consider a new essential. As places open up. Especially here in New York City. This song personifies the ideals of what life should be for us all. Enjoyable. The lyrics in the chorus speak volumes.

“You and your friends. Me and my friends, get on the floor. We tryna’ dance, take my hand, we tryna slide, we tryna’ vibe. We tryna have some fun.”

The record sets the tone by bringing brightly colored sonic elements such as the dreamlike synth lead backed by progressive percussion throughout. With its 4 to the floor cadence. The song gives off mild-anthemic tones as Br0wn croons effortlessly over with reverb-laden vocals. Which adds depth to the song. Impressively, the song has a much deeper meaning.

Bullion Offers a Transcendent Experience with “Cinema Down”

On the surface, it’s a record about enjoyment and fellowship with sedatives as aids to mask much deeper issues. As stated by Brown himself: “This isn’t my typically my sound I was experimenting outside my comfort zone for growth. Starry Knight is just a fun song on the surface level by itself but in context with the project you realize it’s kinda depressing and you understand starry knight is me escaping my problems. Instead of dealing with the issues, I use parties and women as band-aids to my bullet wounds.”

We absolutely love this record. Br0wn stepping out of his norm showcases what artists can achieve when moving out of the realms of complacency. His efforts extend far into the minds of those accepting of his art. We’re excited to see what Br0wn has for us in the future. For now, you can listen to “Starry Knight” via Spotify in the player below and Apple Music in the upper left of the primary image. Also, be sure to follow him on Insta.
