‘Marvel Zombies’ Trailer Unleashes Undead Mayhem and a New Blade Knight

Marvel has dropped the first official trailer for Marvel Zombies, a new four-episode animated series that promises to be its goriest and most violent project to date. The show, which is a spin-off from the fan-favorite episode of the What If…?series, has been confirmed as Marvel’s first-ever TV-MA animated production, and the new trailer delivers on that promise with tons of undead violence and dismembered limbs. The series is set to premiere on September 24.

The trailer’s biggest reveal is the official Marvel debut of Blade Knight, a striking new variant character who appears to be a fusion of Blade and Moon Knight. Voiced by Todd Williams, this new vampire slayer is shown slicing through an undead Ghost from the Thunderbolts in a flashy display of swordsmanship. The character is described as a variant of both Wesley Snipes’ classic portrayal and the long-awaited hero to be played by Mahershala Ali.

Marvel Zombies builds directly on the nightmare scenario introduced in Season 1, Episode 5 of What If…?, which saw the Avengers and most of the world infected by a zombie virus from the Quantum Realm. That episode ended on a massive cliffhanger, with the human survivors arriving in Wakanda only to find a zombified Thanos in possession of a nearly completed Infinity Gauntlet.

The new series will feature a host of returning MCU characters, both as survivors and zombies, including Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Jimmy Woo, Yelena Belova, Okoye, and Captain America. The star-studded voice cast includes returning MCU actors like Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Hailee Steinfeld, and Iman Vellani.

The show is created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige serving as an executive producer. The original Marvel Zombies concept was first created as a comic book series in 2005 by The Walking Deadcreator Robert Kirkman.
