Tom Holland has officially unveiled the new Spider-Man suit that he will wear in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After a brief tease on Friday, which was national Spider-Man Day, a longer video released Saturday morning gave fans a full look at the costume, which marks a significant departure from his previous suits.

The new design features brighter, more vibrant reds and blues and sports a much larger spider insignia on the chest, closely resembling the character’s classic look from the comic books. It’s a distinct aesthetic shift from the more technologically advanced suits seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home, signaling a new chapter for the character.

This new beginning comes directly after the dramatic conclusion of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that film, Peter Parker made the ultimate sacrifice by having Doctor Strange cast a spell that made everyone in the world, including his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), forget who he is. The decision left him completely alone, without friends, family, or resources, but with his anonymity restored. The new film’s title, Brand New Day, directly reflects this clean slate.

The title also pulls inspiration from a famous, and controversial, storyline in the Spider-Man comics. In the “Brand New Day” comic arc, Peter makes a deal with the demonic entity Mephisto to save his Aunt May’s life. The cost of the deal is the complete erasure of his marriage to Mary Jane Watson, effectively rebooting his personal life. While it’s unlikely the film will adapt this plot directly, the title suggests it will explore similar themes of fresh starts and the heavy cost of a second chance.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the fourth Spidey movie from Sony and Disney in the MCU and will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film is also set to introduce new characters played by Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas. In addition, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as the vigilante Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo is slated to appear as Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, further weaving this new Spider-Man story into the broader MCU.
The film is scheduled to release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
