Earlier this week, Hulu shared the first trailer for its upcoming 10-part docuseries covering the NBA’s most prominent franchise. Through a collection of never-before-seen clips and interviews, the series gives a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges faced by the Los Angeles Lakers franchise to build their historic dynasty.

Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers covers pivotal moments in Lakers’ history since Dr. Jerry Buss transformed the organization into one of the most successful franchises in sports. The trailer shows interviews with Laker legends Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and LeBron James. Also featured is Jeanie Buss, the current Lakers president and daughter of Dr. Jerry Buss, who praises the legacy her father built.
In Jerry’s first year as owner, a veteran Kareem and rookie Magic led the Lakers to a championship – the first of five in the decade. The franchise then secured a three-peat with Shaq and Kobe Bryant at the turn of the millennium. With Legacy, fans can finally see what happened behind closed doors during those pivotal years. From Magic Johnson’s early retirement following his contraction of HIV to the decision to bring in Shaq to revive the franchise to the ambitions of the Lakers’ latest superstar – LeBron James. “That pressure. That’s what really drives me. To wear purple and gold – that’s a different feeling,” James says in the trailer.
