Blizzard Entertainment announced they are going to finally start developing a version of Overwatch that supports cross-play.

They’ve announced that there is a beta with cross play support coming in a few weeks. Overwatch Game Director Aaron Keller released a video showcasing how the new cross play functionality would work. Separate from competitive play, players will have to register on Battle.net and and enable the crossplay option. You no longer need to switch regions unless located in China. Players can now play with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, and PC users. This should certainly help with shorter queue times.

So match-ups work on a pool basis for console/PC, if there are only consoles present in a party, they’ll be matched against a party that only has consoles. For competitive play, PC players cannot disable crossplay and will only be matched with PC pools. Also, those that have disabled cross-play will be put into a pool with others who have also disabled the function.

Expect Overwatch cross-play to roll out in the coming months. Lastly, for more gaming news, Final Fantasy XIV Release Full Trailer for “Endwalker” Expansion Pack.
